News:-New Nook is Android-based, full-color

Is the upcoming Nook a color e-reader? Barnes & Noble doesn't comment on rumors, but CNET has been in communication with a source who says the company will unveil a new Android-based full-color touch-screen e-reader next Tuesday, October 26.

The tipster said the entire company has been focused on this product and that "it's a big step ahead, instead of chasing Amazon." While the new e-reader is Android-based, the source indicated it wouldn't have the same functionality as the iPad--but it would be half the price of Apple's entry-level tablet.

Google Plans To Launch Online Music Service in India

Google plans on launching an online music service in India. They plan on partnering with three digital content distributors who hold rights to distribute various types of Indian music to bring users a service where they can search for legal music streams and downloads. 

Essentially what Google is doing is adding a 'search for legal music' in their regular search service. Now, knowing the way our torrent-happy population works, is there even room for a 'legal' music service, much less, a legal music search service. It is cool that Google is trying to instill the culture of buying legal music by making legal music more accessible. Their main problem, however, will be that the term 'legal' comes with a lot of baggage for consumers. A lot of very expensive baggage. 

Google's Released a Seperate Youtube App for Android

Google's launched a standalone Youtube application for its Android platform. This is the second time it's split off one of its own services for the Android platform. The first was a seperate Gmail client that it launched last September. 

A stand alone Youtube app means a little more efficiency. There is full attention given to it, can be updated/improved upon frequently and without the need of waiting for an operating system update. The app will include new features like in-page playback, which will allow users to comment on videos while watching them, full screen rotation, personalized home pages and uploading videos directly from the application.
The application is available for Froyo (Android 2.2) handsets and up
